Rev. Shelton D. Davis

Credentials
Rev. Davis is a North Carolina Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC) with more than 15 years of experience in the field of counseling. She is the founder of Serenity Pastoral Counseling, having formerly served as Clinical Director at Sanctuary Counseling Group. She is also a National Certified Counselor (NCC) and an ordained elder in the Global Methodist Church. She is a member of the American Counseling Association (ACA) and Chi Sigma Iota (Counseling Academic and Professional Honor Society). Prior to working as a pastoral counselor, Rev. Davis was a Board Certified Chaplain (Association of Professional Chaplains) having worked at Gaston Memorial Hospital as the oncology and cardiology chaplain and as the founding chaplain at Novant Health Huntersville Medical Center.

Education
Rev. Davis received her Master of Counseling degree from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. She holds a Master of Divinity degree from Union Presbyterian Seminary in Richmond, VA, and completed her undergraduate work at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Rev. Davis did her clinical pastoral education at UNC Hospitals and Virginia Commonwealth University. Her clinical experience includes work with Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center, CaroMont Regional Medical Center, Novant Health Huntersville Medical Center, Catholic Social Services of the Charlotte Diocese, Methodist Counseling and Consultation Services, and Sanctuary Counseling Group.

Specialties
Rev. Davis works with adults (individuals and couples, including geriatric clients) and college students/young adults. She specializes in helping clients who struggle with grief and loss, depression, anxiety, marriage issues, life transitions, caregiver support, and finding meaning in life. She has significant experience in the areas of mood disorders, adjustment disorders, premarital counseling, faith development, and self-esteem improvement.
